Full Job Description
Charles Smith Construction Ltd. is looking for an experienced Skilled Construction Labourer / Pipe Layer to join our growing civil construction team.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in quality workmanship, and wants to be part of a company that values hard work, teamwork, and doing the job right.
Responsibilities
- Install water, sewer, and storm piping.
- Grade trenches and prepare pipe bedding.
- Set and align pipe using lasers and grade stakes.
- Install manholes, catch basins, and related infrastructure.
- Work safely around excavators and other heavy equipment.
- Assist with site layout, compaction, and backfilling.
- Perform daily site clean-up and general labour duties.
- Follow all company and site safety procedures.
Qualifications
- Experience installing underground water, sewer, or storm systems is required.
- Ability to work safely in trenches and around heavy equipment.
- Experience using grade lasers and understanding grades and elevations is an asset.
- Strong work ethic and dependable attendance.
- Ability to work well as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s licence required (Class 3 or Class 1 is an asset).

Charles Smith Construction Ltd. is looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our growing civil construction team.
We’re looking for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship, enjoys working outdoors, and wants to be part of a company that values hard work, teamwork, and doing the job right.
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment, including excavators, dozers, loaders, and other construction equipment
- Perform routine equipment inspections and daily maintenance checks
- Read and interpret site plans, grades, and project specifications
- Work closely with supervisors and crew members to complete projects safely and efficiently
- Follow all company and site safety policies and procedures
- Assist with other site duties as required
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience operating heavy equipment
- Civil construction experience is required
- Experience operating dozers, excavators, and loaders
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and site plans
- Strong understanding of safe operating procedures
- Strong work ethic and dependable attendance
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver’s licence required (Class 3 is considered an asset)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using GPS or laser guidance systems
- Class 3 driver’s licence
